If you tell the truth,
it becomes a part of your past.
A chapter you can close,
a lesson you can carry,
a moment you can walk away from
with a clean heart and a clear mind.
But if you lie,
it becomes a part of your future.
It follows you,
shadows you,
grows roots in places you never intended,
and builds walls you never meant to create.
Truth sets you free
even when it’s uncomfortable.
Lies trap you
even when they feel convenient.
Truth may sting for a moment,
but lies wound for a lifetime.
Truth brings closure,
but lies demand maintenance.
Truth invites peace,
but lies invite fear, guilt, and distance.
And the older you get,
the more you realize
that honesty is not just a moral choice
it’s a gift you give yourself.
A gift of freedom.
A gift of clarity.
A gift of integrity.
Tell the truth,
even when your voice shakes.
Because truth builds a future
you can stand in without shame.
Scripture
“Then you will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32
Message
Honesty may cost you something in the moment,
but it protects your peace in the long run
and peace is worth far more than pride.
