Silenced by the Ones Who Should Have Listened

For we walk by faith, not by sight 2 Corinthians 5:7

They told my family I was lying,
long before I ever had the chance
to speak my truth.
They shaped the story in rooms
I wasn’t invited into,
and by the time I opened my mouth,
their version had already taken root.

And when I tried to defend myself,
my pain became their evidence.
My trembling voice,
my tears,
my confusion
all of it was twisted into proof
that I was unstable,
dramatic,
or dishonest.

Every reaction I had
was turned into another accusation.
Every attempt to explain
became another reason to doubt me.
Every moment of vulnerability
became another weapon
used to silence me.

There was no way to win a game
designed to strip me of credibility.
A game where the rules shifted
whenever I got close to clarity.
A game where they controlled
the narrative,
the audience,
and the outcome.

A game where my truth was dismissed
and their lies were accepted as fact.
I learned that some people
do not want understanding
they want control.

They want a version of events
that protects their image,
even if it destroys your reputation.
They want to silence you
before your truth exposes theirs.
So when I finally could,
I walked away from all of them.
Not because I was weak,
but because I was done fighting battles
that were never meant to be fair.

I was done trying to prove myself
to people committed
to misunderstanding me.
I was done bleeding for people
who celebrated the sight of my wounds.
Walking away was not surrender
it was survival.

It was choosing peace over chaos,
truth over performance,
and healing over the illusion of family.
Sometimes the bravest thing you can do
is leave the room
where your voice was never meant
to be heard.

Scripture
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18

Message
Your truth was never too small
they were simply unwilling to hear it.
Walking away was not failure,
it was freedom.

And God stands with those
who choose peace
over the prisons built by others.
