Lord, You formed me in the secret place,
You determined my days before one came to be;
no step have I taken
outside of Your knowledge.
When my flesh grew weak
and my bones could no longer carry me,
Your strength became my refuge
and Your grace my staff.
People said: “He is broken,”
but You said: “He is called.”
For Your calling stands firm
and cannot be broken by men.
You narrowed my path
so that I might walk closer to You;
You made me still
so that I might hear Your voice.
In my weakness You accomplished power,
and in my loss You revealed Your purpose;
what people considered an end,
You declared as a beginning.
Your hand was upon me in the fire,
and Your presence in the water;
I was not consumed,
for You remained with me.
Therefore I will proclaim Your works
among those who listen;
for You do not forsake the work
that Your hand has begun.
My life is in Your hand, O Lord,
my calling in Your will;
I will walk before Your face
all the days You give me.
